Strange Domains Registered by the RNC- Not Just gwb43.com

There’s been a lot of buzz lately about the private email servers used by some Republicans to subvert White House data storage rules. Well, a lot of buzz in the mainstream media- Wonkette was on it
weeks ago. Without delving into the politics of it all, I thought it would be interesting to take a closer look at gwb43.com , the domain registered by the Republican National Committee that Karl Rove allegedly uses for 95% of his email. And what strange things did I find…

The Whois for gwb43.com reveals something a little odd- one of the nameservers for the domain, which is hosted by those lovable scamps at Coptix is trespassers-w.net . Huh? Trespassers-w? The site itself, aside from helping route internal White House emails also hosts a quote from Winnie the Pooh. Your guess as to its hidden meaning is as good as mine.

But, moving on from Winnie the Pooh, the awesome DNS tools at robtex also let us take a closer look at gwb43.com and all of the domains it is linked to.Quite a lot of domains over 813 are registered on the same host, and host their mail on the same servers. What’s more surprising is that many of those domains were registered by the RNC, Bush Cheney ‘04 Inc, etc. I’ve highlighted some particularly amusing ones. All of them either go nowhere or redirect to the main GOP site:
First, grabbing minority support:

africanamericansforbush.com
arabamericansforbush.com
asianamericansforbush.com
catholicsforbush.com
conservationistsforbush.com
democratsforbush.com
farmersandranchersforbush.com
jewishbushteam.com
laborforbush.com
militaryfamiliesforbush.com
nativeamericansforbush.com
sportsmanforbush.com
wstandsforwomen.com

After you’ve got your minority support locked away, you can then begin the attack ads:

democratflipflops.com
democratscaretactics.com
demsagenda.com
imaliberal.com
liberalswantyourmoney.com
stophillarynow.com

democratflipflops.com is particularly interesting, because it was registered in 2002, suggesting the Republican war machine for labeling Bush’s 2004 opponent a flip-flopper was working long before the election.

Of course, it’s important to appeal to the younger demographic…

dubyarocks.com

…groom your successors…

ricksantorum.com
ricksantorum.net
ricksantorum2004.com
ricksantorum2006.com
ricksantorum2008.net
ricksantorum2010.com

…and, of course, to anticipate attacks by grabbing(and squatting on) those domains first:

georgebushbites.com
georgebushbites.net
georgebushblows.net
georgebushsux.com
georgebushsux.net
georgewbushbites.com
georgewbushblows.net
georgewbushsucks.net

Yup, that’s right. georgewbushsucks.net, officially registered by the Republican National Committee.

  1. Nice set of snooping there……

  2. Mica says:

TrespassersW was the sign at the entrance to the woods in Winnie the Pooh. Obviously, the missing part was “ill be prosecuted”.

  3. Mica: I’m wondering if it’s a subtle dig at W being a trespasser in the White House.

And the missing part is probably more like “ill be shot”!

The following domains are mentioned in the headers of the bounce message received when you send an email to postmaster@gwb43.com:

    mailscan1.smartechcorp.net
    mailscan2.smartechcorp.net
    localhost.smartechcorp.net
    rnc-exchange1.rnchq.org
    mail2.rnchq.org
    rnc-bes.rnchq.org

“BES” probably stands for “BlackBerry Enterprise Server”.

A BlackBerry Enterprise Server uses push technology to route emails direct to a user’s BlackBerry handheld, without their needing to request or download it.

    So subpoena their f*cking Blackberries.

I’m no techie, but doesn’t this mean the Republican party was given permission to operate a wireless communications network inside the White House?

  7. Bill says:

So how long ago was this? Is Dubya planning to succeed where Tricky Dicky failed in setting himself up as President for Life? Is the RNC still using all or most of these?

  8. Bill: Now that the election has passed, many of these are either inactive or point to the official RNC website.

That’s a lot of minorities. Do you think that when they were registering africanamericansforbush, they thought about getting jewsforhitler, just for, you know, moral equivalence?

I watch tv every day, just on the chance I’ll get to see Dubya frog marched out of the White House on his way to be tarred and feathered.

Is there a reservation on http://www.doingtimeforbush.com yet? Maybe that’s going to be how you will follow the weasels that took one for the team.

My interpretation, “Trespassers W” is a subtle encoded admission to stealing the elections.
